Tanner Hunjak

Tanner Hunjak played professional soccer for the Missouri Comets with the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) during the 2011/12 season. At age 18, he was the youngest player in the league.  Tanner is currently playing in the NAIA Division 1 College Soccer program for Mid America Nazarene University (MNU).  In the 2015-16 season, MNU qualified for the National Championship Tournament, in Florida, where they earned 2nd place in the nation. Tanner was the leading goal scorer and point leader for his team that season.  Tanner also made the NAIA National All-Tournament Team (First Team) in 2015-16.

Tanner began playing soccer at age 4 and for 16 years he played at the highest level in youth club soccer. His club team won State Cup Championships in 2009 and 2011. In 2011, his club team won State Tournament, Regional Tournament, and they were one of only 4 teams that made it to the National Tournament. He led his team in scoring for the Regional Tournament to qualify them for the National Championship Tournament in Phoenix, AZ. Tanner’s high school team also won the KS State 6A Championship in 2010.  In December 2012, he was a member of a Christian ministry called “Ambassadors Sports”.  The Ambassadors Sports soccer team was made up of many Major League Soccer players. They toured Nepal, Asia on a soccer mission trip, and played 4 games in 2 weeks. Tanner scored the winning goal in the first game of the tour in the All Star Game.

Currently, Tanner is a part of the coaching staff for FC Kansas City, which is one of the largest youth soccer club in the Kansas City metro area.  His passion is to pass his knowledge about soccer and also his love for Jesus Christ with youths and their families.  Tanner’s other passion is leading worship at church and at his family’s ministry camps.  He has been part of his family’s soccer camp ministry for the past 9 years.
